The crisis is urgent and we have to act now.
Right now, over 1.2 million Canadians are living with vision loss and the number is growing. With blindness in Canada costing a staggering 32.9 billion dollars annually, the burden of vision loss to individuals, communities, and our health case system is nothing short of extreme.
The growing crisis affects all Canadians – but youth, the elderly, and other vulnerable populations face the greatest risk. Without a government commitment for a national vision health plan, we’re at risk for a major healthcare emergency. Over 8 million Canadians are living with eye diseases that can lead to blindness. We must act fast to prevent blindness.
Together, we can demand action that prevents over 75% of blindness through accessible eye exams and equitable access to therapies.
