SHARING THE LAUGHTER. SEEING THE HOPE.
Our virtual comedy night, ‘Comedy from the Couch’, returned for the second time on Saturday, September 25th, 2021. The event combined our annual Comic Vision and Last Call fundraising events, creating a night of fun that attendees could enjoy from the comfort of their living rooms.
Thank you so much to everyone who supported us by attending and donating funds for sight-saving research. We raised over $98,000 in support of Fighting Blindness Canada (FBC)!
big thank yous
Thank you to our host, Ali Hassan, who lent us his superior hosting skills and infectious energy from CBC’s stand-up comedy show Laugh Out Loud.
Thank you to Comic Vision co-founders Ann Morrison and Meg Soper for kicking-off the show with some fun and delicious cocktail mixing.
Thank you to comedians Tammy Pescatelli and Ivan Decker (a Comic Vision alum), for their hilarious performances.
Thank you to Just for Laughs for producing our show and delivering a side-splitting evening of world-class comedy.
And thank all of YOU who tuned in to watch. Your support of vision research through the sharing of laughter is making a difference in the fight for treatments and cures for vision loss.
oNLINE AUCTION
Throughout the evening, messages of hope and personal stories of people living with vision loss were shared, along with heartfelt calls to donate to FBC’s mission to fund critical vision research. Adding to the funds raised through ticket sales was FBC’s online auction that ran throughout the show and continued for a week afterward. The auction featured exciting travel experiences, unique gift packages, jewelry, artwork, sports memorabilia, and more – contributing over $11,000 to the total funds raised!
THANK YOU for the laughs and support shared during these difficult times. You helped make the success of this virtual event possible, and together, we are moving vision research forward.
