Fighting Blindness Canada Celebrates World Sight Day!

Did you know that in three out of four cases, vision loss can be treated or prevented if caught early enough? That’s why Fighting Blindness Canada has teamed up with the Canadian Retina Society, the Canadian Council of the Blind, and Novartis on World Sight Day to raise awareness about the signs and symptoms of age-related macular degeneration. Check out our PSA above – and join superstar Jann Arden in sharing our message with Canadians across the country!

Video Description: The words “What would you remember?” appear onscreen, followed by an image of a young child eating birthday cake. Dr. Peter Kertes shares that it’s a memory of his daughter’s first birthday, and as he’s talking, a black mark grows in the middle of the image. Dr. Varun Chandhary and Dr. Cynthia Quan both share their own memories, with black marks growing over pictures of what they’re talking about. The screen cuts to black, with the words “AMD is the leading cause of vision loss in people over 50” appear on screen, followed by, “Memories should stay with you. So should your vision. Spot the symptoms.”  Logos appear for Fighting Blindness Canada, Canadian Retina Society, and the Canadian Council of the Blind. At the bottom of the screen, it says, “With the support of Novartis.”
